Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a highly motivated Account Technician I to work at the Vienna Correctional Center. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task orientated, and an organized individual with attention to detail. Essential Functions

• Reviews and verifies payroll information presented by timekeeping and personnel department, for accuracy prior to processing institutional payroll.
• Serves as Worker's Compensation Coordinator.
• Generates reports related to retirement and social security calculations for payment.
• Prepares claims for Court of Claims and back wage claims dealing with personal services.
• Serves as back-up to the Account Technician I's in procurement, vouchering, and Systems Application & Products (SAP).
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course, or three (3) years related clerical bookkeeping experience.

**Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience reviewing payroll information for accuracy prior to processing payroll.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience verifying payroll information.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience identifying calculation errors or discrepancies and adjusting payroll calculations.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience generating reports related to retirement and/or social security calculations for payment.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience providing claims for Court of Claims.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience generating back wage claims.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience processing any discrepancy analysis on a weekly basis.
• Prefers at least one (1) year of experience updating employee records.
• Prefers at least one (1) year of experience providing information for budget review of any special cost tracking.

• Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
• Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.

• Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
